We Floridians love our inground pools and beaches. We bring friends over to enjoy the water and sun; we craft parties around our pools, using them as decorative centerpieces. When the weather starts to cool, we sometimes find ourselves looking for something else to do. This holiday season, don’t let the cool weather ruin your good time. There are plenty of things to do!

If you’re looking for a good time outside in the sun, consider Treeumph (located near Myakka, off of State Road 70. Treeumph is a moderate to advanced ropes course that brings you swinging through the trees, over bridges, and down thrilling zip-lines. The cooler weather, this time of year, and clear skies makes the holiday season the perfect time to explore everything Treeumph has to offer. Be sure to look for the Christmas decorations hanging from the most unlikely of places!

If the holiday spirit moves you, there are plenty of holiday-themed activities that will distract you from missing the hours spent lounging in your inground pool. Holly Days and Mangrove Lights at Historic Spanish Point brings the holiday spirit to life. With their decorated homestead buildings, lighted gardens, musical guests, and perfect holiday ambiance, Historic Spanish Point transforms into the spirit of the season. This event runs from November 27th – December 31st! You have plenty of time to enjoy this beautiful event!

Want to add some thrills to your holiday experience? Consider Busch Gardens Christmas Town for some amazing rides and a park completely transformed by the holiday season. More than a million twinkling lights will greet guests as they go through a winter wonderland of Christmas shopping and entertainment. Even the kids will get a special holiday treat, as Santa will be available throughout the park for pictures. The park will remain open until 10:00 PM. This spectacular event will from December 18th through December 31st.

Finally, we can’t forget Selby Garden’s wonderful holiday: Lights in Bloom. This year is the twelfth annual celebration. Featuring more than half a million lights, visitors will be surrounded by an absolute Christmas spectacle. Some of the most iconic locations of the Garden will be decked out in holiday cheer. A new feature, this year, will include a huge tunnel of lights that will magically whisk you away from the tropics into the North Pole! To make it even better, a complimentary shuttle service will be available from the State Street Parking garage. This extravaganza will run from December 18th to December 30th.
