Homeowners Find Reassurance in Pool Builder’s Reputation

Martin and Jackie Koetters respect the power of reputation.

The couple built a home in Woodbrook, a community by Neal Communities, southwest Florida’s premier, private homebuilder, a few years ago. They were impressed with the quality and inspired service that comes with building a Neal Communities home.

In 2016, the Koetters decided they were ready for a change of scenery. Martin and Jackie looked at a variety of single-family communities, but ultimately, they knew they wanted to live in another Neal Communities neighborhood.

The Koetters broke ground on a home in Woodland Trace in June 2016; and at the same time, they decided they also wanted to put in a pool.

Recognizing that Neal Communities is a highly respected homebuilder, the Koetters decided to have Waterscapes Pools & Spas, one of southwest Florida’s largest residential and commercial pool builder and a sister company of Neal Communities, construct their pool.

“This is our second Neal home and the reputation of Neal is high quality,” says Martin. “We know that because we’ve experienced it, and we took that same feeling toward building our pool. We felt like if they can build a good house then they can build a good pool.

“The coordination of building a pool and a house is a lot easier, we suspect from the Neal side, when the same management umbrella is working with each other and can be available when they need to be,” says Martin. “It just made more sense for us than to deal with an outside vendor.”

Martin likes to swim and Jackie enjoys exercising in the water, so the couple felt it would be more convenient to have its own pool rather than relying on a community pool.

Early on in the process, the Koetters, who were building a pool for the first time, sat down with the team at Waterscapes Pools & Spas and went over the various pool options and the positives and negatives of each option.

The Koetters opted for a 7,500-gallon rectangular pool, which not only met their needs from a swimming standpoint but also provided them with the most outdoor living space.

“They were very helpful for someone who never owned a pool,” says Martin. “They were not selling. They were helping us make decisions. They helped us clarify and decide on what we were looking for and were very reassuring.”

Since the pool was being built while the house was being built, the Koetters found the entire pool building process to be relatively simple and painless. The only problem that arose for the Koetters was a coloring issue with some of the pavers, which Waterscapes Pools & Spas fixed in a timely fashion.

The Koetters closed on their new home Dec. 27, 2016 and moved in Jan. 4. They’ve been thoroughly enjoying their new pool ever since. The couple spends roughly an hour a day on average in the pool and another couple hours around the pool.

Since they closed on their house, the couple has only a few minor issues with the pool, such as when an electrical storm ruined the pool pump. Within two days, Waterscapes Pools & Spas was there with a new pump.

“We’ve had a few hiccups and the Waterscapes folks just came and couldn’t be more pleasant,” says Martin. “They’ve been really patient and helpful, which made the process that much better. The caliber of people that Waterscapes has just makes the company. They are high-quality people and they do what they say they are going to do.”
